This very common term can be more dangerous than drinking and driving, and I'm here today to prove why that is!
Hello everyone, Dr. Bob here with Lowcountry Chiropractic. As has been our trend over the last few blogs, we are going to talk about something a little different. We all know that if you've been drinking and you get behind the wheel to drive you run the risk of getting arrested for a DWI or DUI. I am going to make the case to you today that driving while subluxated is even more dangerous than driving while intoxicated. (My apologies to the Local Police! I hope that doesn't get me in trouble!) So today, I am going to explain this term and how to not drive subluxated, which we don't want anyone to do ever! The foundation of chiropractic care is that we remove subluxations of the spine. Subluxation of the spine is when you have a vertebra in your back that has misaligned due to some trauma and has started to irritate a spinal nerve. Spinal nerves are the lifeline of your body - which connects your brain to your body and your body to your brain. Subluxations are bad! We can say that someone who has subluxations in their back is subluxated. So why is this so dangerous? The brain controls every function of your body and every system of your body, like your immune, digestive, respiratory, endocrine, circulatory, you name it! So, every single function of your body is regulated by the brain and the nerve system which is the spinal cord and the nerves that connect the brain to the body. The brain makes all the decisions, sends these messages down the spinal cord to the body, and the body does the work the brain has told it to do. Then the nerves take the information back to the brain so it can make the next best decision on what to do next! Health is defined as a situation where your body is working at 100% and 100% of the time. When you have a subluxation and that nerve gets irritated and those messages aren't getting from the brain to the body and then from the body to the brain you aren't as healthy as you could or should be. Things in your body are going to break down, you might get pain out of it or you might not. You might have sinus issues, you might get headaches, you might have trouble sleeping at night, you might have a loss or a lack of energy, you might lose focus and not be able to concentrate, and that's where driving subluxated can really affect your driving ability! It can affect your digestion, it can cause acid reflux, sciatica, diabetes, and high blood pressure. All of these conditions are related to a body that is not functioning as it should be. So what a chiropractor does is remove the subluxations from your back with our hands. We train the spine to stay in place so it doesn't get subluxated and so you don't stay subluxated. This way you can feel comfortable getting into your car after a long hard day at work and feel like you're NOT going to drive off the road because you're not driving subluxated. You're not going to be confused or forget how to get home because your brain is all scrambled up. So essentially this is just to say that Chiropractic Care is essential to your health. Without it, no matter how well you eat, exercise, and live a healthy life, if you are a subluxated individual, you aren't going to be as healthy as you should be. You are not going to have as much energy, you are not going to sleep well, and you're not going to be a great asset to others as you could be! This is my way of saying, please don't get behind the wheel subluxated. Go get checked by a chiropractor on a regular basis who will remove the subluxations and allow you to live, work, and act in a more responsible and healthy state! I hope this helps! All of you out there who are subluxated, which is 100% of you if you don't see a chiropractor, need to come see me and we will remove the subluxations from your spine! I hope to see you soon. I hope you have a great day and be well!
